Real Madrid are set to make a late move for the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star striker Kylian Mbappe in the final days of the summer transfer window, reported German newspaper Bild on Monday.
The Los Blancos will make an offer of around €130 million to push PSG to sell the 24-year-old as he still has not renewed the contract with the club.
While the French club is looking for an offer of around €150 million or more, the report states that Madrid's offer could still be irresistible because the they fear losing their best player for free next year.
Considering how complicated Mbappe's saga has been ever since the transfer window began, it may not come as a surprise if PSG accept Madrid's offer.
It must be noted that during all the drama that happened between Mbappe and PSG, the Whites did not make a bid for the 24-year-old which was something the French club couldn't understand because they had been trying to sign the player for a long time.
Even though he was reintegrated into the first-team squad by head coach Luis Enrique after constructive talks with the club and even scored in PSG's 1-1 draw against Toulouse on Saturday, Mbappe is not having a very good time at the French capital.
Despite Mbappe scoring the only goal for his side, fans in the stands remain outraged by his behaviour during the last two months and how poorly the club managed the entire situation.
During all this, Real Madrid remain in urgent need of a prolific goalscorer who can adjust to the starting XI and start scoring goals and Mbappe would not have any trouble fitting in Carlo Ancelotti's new 4-4-2 system.
It has to be mentioned that PSG tried everything to force Mbappe to request a transfer in the last two months. First, he was not called by Enrique for PSG's league opener against FC Lorient.
Not only the footballer was excluded from the club’s squad for their Asian pre-season tour, but he was also sent to train with discarded players, who are no longer part of the project.
